ABOUT US
STEIN ANGUS FARMS continue today under the separate family operations of Dan and Janas "STEIN ANGUS FARM" and Sam and Kellys "STEIN ANGUS HAVEN." These family operations, situated in the farming and ranching country of North Central Oklahoma, grew from modest beginnings followed by what has become a fifty plus year heritage rich in agriculture.
In the early years, registered Angus performance bred bulls were recognized by the Stein family as pivotal to the success of their 150 head commercial Angus herd once situated North across the state line on a 1,500 acre ranch in the flinthills of Kansas owned by Dan and Sams grandmother. Dan and Sams father and uncle, Leroy and Don Stein, continued the familys agricultural heritage with the farming of wheat and alfalfa integral to their "Stein Bros." farming operation in Alfalfa County, OK. The Stein Bros. farming operation naturally benefited from a companion stocker cattle operation, with the weaned calves from the Kansas ranch being shipped to Oklahoma for winter grazing, and additional stocker cattle being purchased year around.

Kansas ranch

The Kansas flinthills ranch and commercial cow herd were eventually sold, and Oklahoma pasture land that had once been utilized by Don & Leroy in their stocker cattle operation became the key ingredient in developing another cow/calf operation in Alfalfa County, OK. Inspired by the enthusiasm of the next generation of the Stein family active in 4-H and FFA activities, a family partnership was formed to combine available resources of land and labor in order to develop a purebred cow/calf operation focused on the needs of the surrounding commercial cattle industry. For 28 years, the Stein family, under the name of STEIN ANGUS FARM, strived to produce sound, functional cattle that excel in the economically important traits.
The spring of 2002 saw the "end of an era" at STEIN ANGUS FARM, when Don and Leroy Stein retired from the registered Angus business. The entire herd of mature cows at STEIN ANGUS FARM went under the gavel on April 20, 2002. Left, however, was the 2001 heifer calf crop, which has formed the nucleus for the next generation of the Stein family.

Now, under the umbrella of STEIN ANGUS FARMS, sons Dan and Sam and their families carry on the tradition of breeding superior Angus seedstock. Dan and his wife, Jana, continue their operation under their new STEIN ANGUS FARM while Sam and his wife Kelly, also from a longstanding Angus family, continue their breeding program at their STEIN ANGUS HAVEN. Sam and Kelly carry on the tradition not only of the Stein family but also of Kellys familys Angus Haven Farms, owned and operated for so many years by Kellys parents and grandparents, the late Charles Pelter and Jeanne Pelter, and the late Howard and Mary Pelter.
