Our classification will follow American Angus Association rules and guidelines for shows from January 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017.
Classifications for females: September 1, 2014—heifer calves calved after June 1, 2016

  • Classifications for Cow/Calf: Cows 3 years and younger, cows must be born 1.1.2014—8.31.2014 Cows 4 years and older, cows must be born 12.31.13 or earlier. Calf must be the cow’s most recent natural calf and be no more than 280 days of age on show day.
  • Classifications for bulls: January 1, 2015—bull calves calved after March 1, 2016.
  • Steers – Please call Lana Myers (337.249.3913) about steers. Classification is different.
  • Classifications can be found on the American Angus Website.

Activities will begin on Saturday, May 20th with cattle start arrival at 1 pm. Please bring original registration papers and health papers.

Meals will be provided for Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday for lunch.

Our junior meeting will be held at 4:30 pm to discuss NJAS and our trip to Des Moines, Iowa on July 9-15th. Bring your family, notepads and pens. Don’t forget your creative ideas!! Please make every effort to attend this meeting if you plan on attending NJAS. If you cannot attend the meeting, call me prior to May 19th so I can have all information needed to make decisions. Every junior family attending nationals should be involved preparing for Des Moines.

Sunday, the show will begin at 9 am with bred & owned bulls then owned bulls, bred & owned females and finally owned females. Showmanship will follow the junior show. Seniors—remember the national showmanship contestants will be chosen.

Cattle released after lunch on Sunday.

Educational and Informational Activities are being planned for the juniors as well as the adults.

Bring all scrapbook items to Clayton Daniel, Historian, and Austin Purpera, Shadow Historian. If you can, e-mail your pictures beforehand to Clayton.
