Hi C Farm History
Welcome to Hi C Farm. Charles and Sylvia Casto were both raised on livestock farms in Upshur County. They started their present livestock enterprise in 1988. Since the loss of Chuck in 2005, Sylvia is continuing to raise Angus Cattle.
In the spring of 1990, the Castos purchased their first Angus bull at Wardensville Bull Sale. Fall of 1990 brought the purchase of their first Angus cows at the Rocking P Farm sale. This base was expanded with additional purchases from the following farms:
- Gardiner Angus Ranch in Kansas
- McKean Brothers in Pennsylvania
- Daltons on the Sycamore in Virginia
- Virginia Beef Expo at Ginger Hill in Virginia
- Tye Brook Angus in Virginia
- Wehrmann Angus in Virginia
- White Ridge Angus and Benfield Farm in Virginia
- The Meadows Farms in West Virginia
Hi C Farm consists of 200 acres. A large portion of hay is transported back to home base and fed on feeding pads.
Hi C Farm LLC consists of 48 acres specializing in boarding horses and dogs, with a 20 stable horse facility and a kennel. Hi C Farm LLC is owned by Melissa Stone. She is located at 2775 Ranger Road, Clover, South Carolina; Cell: 803-230-3648, Business: 803-222-0620.
In addition to AI breeding, Hi C is currently using HI C 488 of V65 Con Lead ON andHI C 500 of 449 439 Bext 205.
Hi-C Farm is downsizing their cattle herd. The Hi-C Farm sells cattle in the West Virginia Beef Expo held in April of each year and the Rocking P Sale held the first Friday night in November.
We support the FFA Association, 4-H groups, West Virginia Jr. Angus Ass’n, West Virginia Cattlewomen Association. We have served as treasurer for the West Virginia Angus Association from 1998 until the spring of 2008. I was elected as a delegate to the American Angus Meeting for the year of 2006, 2007, 2008 and again this year for 2009 in Louisville, KY.
