Labrot & Graham Distillery

Tour guests enjoyed touring the distillery and the Welcome Center.

Welcome to America’s smallest and oldest operating distillery, Labrot & Graham, which touts itself as “the birthplace of bourbon.” The distillery, which was recently named a national historic landmark, lies on the banks of Glenn’s Creek, covering 42 acres in Woodford County. Bourbon was first crafted here in 1812 by many pioneers of the distilling industry, including Elijah Pepper, Oscar Pepper, James Crow and Edmund Taylor.
Even though some may consider Labrot & Graham a historic showplace, it is a working distillery that is proud of its reputation of “small, old and slow.” It is the only distillery in the state to use the time-honored method of production with copper pot stills. The result is a product with a unique quality and the taste of a true premium spirit. Surrounded by beautiful horse farms, Labrot & Graham is one of the few places in the world where you can see two of Kentucky’s most legendary products — bourbon whiskey and Thoroughbred horses — maturing side by side.
