Throughout 5,000 years of domestication, no animal has had a more significant effect on human history than the horse. Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,030-acre educational theme park that was created to honor this beautiful animal.
This working horse farm is surrounded by 32 miles of white plank fence and serves as home to more than 40 breeds of horses. Visitors to the park are greeted by a bronze statue marking the grave of Man o War, the legendary race horse that won 20 of 21 races during his two years on the track.
One of the biggest attractions at the park is the International Museum of the Horse, which is the largest and most comprehensive equestrian museum in the world. It is dedicated to telling the 58-million-year history of the horse and the intriguing story of its relationship with man.
Youll have the opportunity to take a walking farm tour, where youll see farriers demonstrate the art of horseshoeing. Attendees also can view the extensive horse show facilities and visit the Hall of Champions while at the park. Youll also want to see the indoor arena, steeplechase course, polo fields, and numerous dressage and showrings that host more than 60 national shows and events each year.
