Central Kentucky Angus Association Sales Pavilion

|Many local, state and regional Angus associations sponsor consignment sales for their membership, but the Central Kentucky Angus Association (CKAA) has taken the concept of association-sponsored sales one step further.
Central Kentucky Angus breeders purchased this sales pavilion in 1971, and since that time they have hosted 136 association sales at the facility. At the time of purchase, the original building, which houses the sale ring and a few stalls, was the only structure on the acreage. Through the years, CKAA members have constructed the additional buildings, pens, handling facilities and roads on the property. Maintenance and repairs are handled on a contract basis or done by volunteers.
CKAA sponsors four sales annually: one each in January, April, September and November. Annual gross sales will average between $300,000 and $400,000. In addition to sales, CKAA sponsors a youth show, and the facilities are available to rent, averaging three to four sales a year in addition to CKAA events.
CKAA has a membership of 225-250 Angus breeders. Membership is concentrated in a 10-county area but also includes members from across Kentucky and other states.
